I am directed by Secretary Sir E. Grey to acknow-

ledge the receipt of your letter No. 14059/15 of the 30th

ultimo respecting the affairs in Hong Kong of the Société

Evangelique des Missions de Basle and to inform you that

he sees no objection to permission being granted to the

Swiss Missionary, M. Ziegler, to visit Hong Kong for the

purpose of managing the Society's property and schools.

I am to add that in accordance with the telegram from

the Governor of Hong Kong communicated to this Department

in your letter No 7855 of the 19th February last the

Swiss Minister has already been informed that the Governor

has no objection to M. Ziegler proceeding to Hong Kong

to manage the Society's property.
